AWARD-WINNING SITES

Best of Fandom Fanzing's "Best of Fandom" award is given to those Web sites that show enthusiastic devotion to DC Comics.

February 1999
Issue 14

(URL NO LONGER FUNCTIONING) Cheeks the Toy Wonder's Home Page, a fantastic in-depth look at DC's Silver Age (both good and bad) as well as Marvel Comics, Archie, Disney and other comics. Be warned…it is very image-intensive! Most pages are about one to three megabytes EACH!

March 1999
Issue 15

Birdwatching: The Birds of Prey Homepage!

April 1999
Issue 16

The Periodic Table of Comics , a bizarre site devoted to cataloguing the appearances of the elements in comic books! There MUST be some truly fanatical comic book fan behind such an eclectic…and I think chemistry professor John P. Selegue definitely qualifies! Congrats, J.P., your site gets our "Best of Fandom" award for this month!

May 1999
Issue 17

Who's Whose in the DC Universe, a site that has tackled the mind-bogglingly difficult project of listing the creators of every DC Comics character! Talk about a fanatical undertaking.

This site is a reference to keep bookmarked, people!

July 1999
Issue 18

The Unofficial Green Arrow Compendium, an interesting Green Arrow web site which has been around for almost two years. The site is overflowing with history, artwork scans, pics of action figures and fan art by the site's webmaster, Scott McCullar. He is also the webmaster for Chuck Dixon's web site, the Dixonverse (a fine site which I also highly recommend).

August 1999
Issue 19

The GL Corps Web Site, the only fan site to take out a full page ad in a magazine! This is the organization that lobbied DC to bring back Hal Jordan, but their site is so much more than that. There is an in-depth list of EVERY GREEN LANTERN ON RECORD, plus art and fan fiction and the latest GL news. If you're not familiar with them, CHECK IT OUT!

Sept. 1999
Issue 20

(URL NO LONGER FUNCTIONING) Nightwing's Lair, a visually stunning site focusing on the character who's the favorite of many Fanzingers. Lest you think it's a case of character favoritism, check it out and you'll see that it's also jammed with info!

Oct. 1999
Issue 21

(URL NO LONGER FUNCTIONING) The Impulse Page, a site full of Bart Allen information. It's fast and it looks great, too!

Nov. 1999
Issue 22

(URL NO LONGER FUNCTIONING) The Immortal Doctor Fate, an in-depth and updated site devoted to all wearers of the Helm of Nabu!

Dec. 1999
Issue 23

The Unofficial Blackhawk Comics Website, a surprisingly thorough tribute to the flying Blackhawk team in all of its incarnations! The artists and I made good use of this resource in writing and illustrating issue #23's War Wheel story. Enjoy!

Jan. 2000
Issue 24

The Starman Compendium, the best Starman site out there! It has news, interviews, a complete issues list, character info and more! And the home page has a cute name: "Starmenu". I like it.

Feb/March 2000
Issue 25

Flash: Those Who Ride The Lightning Flash Facts abound at "Those Who Ride The Lightning", with summaries of issues, biographies, origins, artwork of every featured character…even summaries of alternate reality Flash stories. Wow!

April 2000
Issue 26
