The layouts, colors, fonts, etc. will all be undergoing some tinkering…and your recommendations are greatly appreciated. Is there a page in this issue where the headline font was inappropriate or the colors made it hard to read? Would you like a navigation bar at the side of every page (similar to that on my home page )? What about the font package? Do you like the idea? Hate it? Feel it could be smaller/larger? Have any good comics-y fonts to contribute? Are there any other improvements you could suggest? If so, let us know!

THOUGHTS AT THREE A.M.
by editor I forgot my name First off, does anyone out there have a public domain font similar to the fonts used for the Batman Animated Series? If so, please send it to me. I would love to add a font like that to Fanzing's Font Pack.

So out of the so-called blue, I get an e-mail from Tom Mandrake. Yeah, HIM! Artist Tom Mandrake, previously of Spectre and soon to illustrate Martian Manhunter. I guess he was surfing the web for information on J'onn J'onzz and discovered my Martian History page. He said he was very impressed and that he'd send

JOHN OSTRANDER!!!

to check it out! Now, isn't that cool? This kind of thing could never have happened before the advent of the Internet. I mean, here I am trying to make contacts in the comics industry, and they actually write to me first! And not just anyone. Tom Mandrake! Wow!

J'onn J'onzz, the Martian Manhunter, has been mishandled over the last decade. J.M. DeMatteis' excellent miniseries implemented many good retcons for the character…most of which have been contradicted or just plain goofed up since then. So I'm one of the many people who has rejoiced that he'll now be in the hands of one writer. And not just any writer. This is

JOHN OSTRANDER!!!

we're talking about here. The writer of one of my favorite comic books ever, Suicide Squad. I'm really looking forward to this series, and I'm already selling my car so that I can afford to collect another comic book.

In other news, I've bought the expanded cable so that I can now get TNT and the Sci-Fi Channel and the Comedy Channel. So, if the next issue is delayed, you'll know what I was doing!
