Fanzing's Current
Art CHALLENGE!
Current Topic:
Cover Parodies
and Tributes!
Due Date:
March 1, 2002

The Painting Parodies Art Challenge produced some amazing results. Now we're going to bring the parodies closer to home.

Covers that parody or pay tribute to famous comic book covers are always fun. To get the hang of what we're talking about, check out the cover to Justice League #5 by Kevin Maguire and two notable parodies of that infamous cover. One is a straight tribute substituting different characters, the other puts a twist on the earlier Guy Gardner cover.

Get the idea?

So here's the challenge:

  1. Create a piece of artwork that parodies or pays tribute to a legendary (or at least recognizable) comic book cover.
  2. This is an original piece of art interpreting the professional cover art.
  3. Send it in to [email protected] by March 1, 2002.
  4. A panel of judges will pick the best one. The results will be announced in the March issue.

Entries must be in a digital format such as GIF, JPG or BMP (scan in your drawings if necessary). Photomanipulations are allowed for backgrounds, although doing a background by hand can help your score. All acceptable entries will be shown in the issue. Have fun!
