New Topic:

Winter Weather Wear!

Due Date:

February 1, 2003

How does Nightwing stay warm while shoveling snow? What does Batman wear to fight the winter winds while patrolling Gotham? And what do all the poor gals with skimpy costumes do?

This challenge is basically an "inverse" version of Fanzing's popular swimsuit challenges. Artists should draw a DC character in winter weather clothing (i.e. gloves, mittens, parka, etc).

For some cold based characters (i.e. Captain Cold), this might actually mean wearing less clothing!

So here's the challenge:

  1. Draw a DC character (male or female) in a winter weather clothing
  2. Entries must be no more than 400 pixels wide, and preferably in 'portrait' configuration.
  3. A panel of judges will pick the best one. We're not sure how, but the results will be announced somehow.

Entries must be in a digital format such as GIF, JPG or BMP (scan in your drawings if necessary). Photomanipulations are allowed for backgrounds, although doing a background by hand can help your score. All acceptable entries will be shown in the issue. Have fun!

Writing Challenge

Topic:
Origins!

Due Date:
November 26, 2002

Here's the challenge:

What if Fanzing created the DC Universe? What if you had the opportunity to retell the origin of your favorite character? How would you create Batman, Superman, or any of DC's other characters?

Now's your chance!

To enter the challenge, simply retell the origin of a character (or group of characters) from a new, different, and/or creative perspective!

Specifics:

  • Prose form is fine. Comic script style is also acceptable, although many people don't like reading them.
  • Do your own editing and spell-check. Entries will be posted as-is.
  • If you write in WordPad, make sure wordwrap is on. Stories which contain line breaks will not be accepted
  • Please send your story in either HTML, Word format or Rich Text Format (.rtf).
  • As always, It Must Not Suck.
